12th July 2011

This is the day she past away in Singapore General Hospital at 6:19am

All the way she fought to live, even till her last breath literally.

The Good News And The Not So Good News..

On 24th January 2010,

The Good News...

The bone marrow coordinator informed us that there are 2 low frequency level match in the USA. Thus without delay, we made the necessary payment to the bone marrow donor programme (BMDP) to proceed with the high frequency matching.

The Not So Good News...

The cost spent will not guarantee that there will be a complete match. Each test will cost us $2,550, in this case we have paid $5,100. If it does not match, the amount spent will be lost. The process then starts all over again.

If only if, the match is successful, the next step will be the stem cell collection and courier over to Singapore that will cost us about $55,000 hard cold cash. This amount cannot be claimed from our CPF medisave or her medishield. Other than the said cost, the hospital procedures and stay continue to run its costs...

How long is this going to be? We are not sure ourselves, until then she has to continue chemo treatment. When the donor is found, then the final chemo will be administered.

As our CPF medisave & medishield will be drying up in the coming months soon...pray for financial providence.

Importantly, please pray for the donor to respond quickly, for the screening and a complete match. Pray for Debbie to have strength and courage to go through these trying times...

Blood Pressure High

On 18th January 2010,

She has been coping well for the past few days after the chemo treatment. Until recently, her blood pressure has gone up from 120/90 to 160-180/100.

My fear for her are her kidney functions, this may lead to further kidney deterioration or altered mental state similar to the last round of chemo.

This week her blood counts will drop before picking up again.

Please pray with me for her kidneys to function well and her blood pressure to return back to normal range...

3rd Round Of Chemo Completed

On 13th January 2010,

The 3rd round of chemo started on Friday 8th January 2010. This round was administered due to the 7% of Blast(cancer) cells present, as the last round of treatment did not successfully bring down or totally remove the cells in her bone marrow.

During this episode, there were a lot of uncertainty about the treatment. This was the 2nd option that we chose instead. Initially, the doctors told us that we had to proceed with the first option. The risk involved were of lung bleeding, kidney failure, and other complications.

We were devastated and at a state of confusion. Thank God for providence, as friends we knew, referred us to doctors from private practice and other hospital of the same discipline.

We hurriedly went to seek 2nd and 3rd opinion. After seeing them, at least we had peace in deciding the 2nd option.

Whether we made the right or wrong decision, may the Lord continue guide and protect her.

Today her blood counts will begin to drop...

Pray that there will be no complication, be it diarrhea, fever, rashes. Her blast(cancer) cells will be totally gone.

Pray also for protection of her organ especially her kidneys not to deteriorate further.

Had A Good Rest...Since Christmas Till Today

On 6th January 2010,

Had a great time resting at home over Christmas and New Year.

It's been a long day, finally settled down in the ward.

Bad news from the doctors, BMA results were disappointing. 7% blast(cancer) cells present. Must achieve 5% or less to obtain remission.

Will be going through more intense chemo treatment. May end up in ICU.

Please pray with me for God's protecting, strength and courage
